To My Maw-Maw

I sit in your house and I begin to think of the past,

The memories I have of you will always last,

Like the love for your family that you always gave,

And those delicious pecan pies that we always crave,

I sit in your kitchen but it is not the same,

Not to see you across from me ready to play a card game.

I said to the Lord, she was a good woman why did you

take her away,

But He said He took you to a better home where you would

I don't know how to spend Christmas with you not here,

It was always so fun when you were near.

You loved to read my poetry, so this one is just for you,

To the best Grandmother in the whole world and now the

best in heaven too.

I'm Free

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free.
I'm following the path God has laid, you see.
I took his hand when I heard Him call.
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
I found that peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
then fill it with remembered joys,
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss.
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I wish you the same sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much.
Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief.
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and peace to thee.
God wanted me now, He set me free!
